At St. Joseph’s P.E. and school sport are an integral part of both the curriculum and ethos of the school. We believe that P.E. and school sport can teach the children the importance of teamwork, health, confidence and all round  development and through participation, our children build and learn more about our key values such as respect, unity, co-operation and kindness for themselves and others.

We are therefore delighted to be able to use £8,000 of sport premium funding to support the development of P.E. and school sport in the following ways;

  • In partnership with Bacon’s college, provide premium quality training for teachers throughout the school particularly NQT’s.
  • To provide sports coaching for the older children to work with the younger children
  • provide expert support for after school clubs
  • fund new sports equipment for the school, including playground equipment.
  • To be involved in school competitions within the Southwark borough.
  • Significantly increase the range and number of before and after school activities offered to pupils across the school.
  • Commitment to teaching our children about healthy lifestyle and nutrition.

Our overall aim is to raise standards in P.E. and school sport increasing the participation and opportunities offered to our children. We aim to provide higher quality lessons and improved learning for all.

Stop Press; St Joseph’s wins Southwark Indoor Athletics competition for second year running and will represent the borough in the London Youth Games 2015!
