Dear Parents and Carers

I am overjoyed at being appointed the new Executive Headteacher at St Joseph’s.  What great news for me!  When I came to St Joseph’s in September it felt like I was meant to be here.  Thank you so much for your warm wishes of congratulation and your continued support.

Lent

During Lent the school is supporting the food bank that has started at Sacred Heart Church. We are going to collect one item of non-perishable goods per child (pasta, sugar, long life milk, tins of beans, tomatoes etc…).  As of this week please bring items into the reception areas of the infants and juniors where there will be a space for collection.

Using the Food bank
If there is anyone in need of the food bank please go to Sacred Heart Parish Hall on the last Saturday of every month from 2-4pm.  You do not have to present any vouchers or be known to the church to avail of this help.

First Holy Communion Programme
Our First Holy Communion Programme is going really well.  Can I remind
parents/carers that pick up time is 3.45pm. Try as hard as possible to be on time.

Parents Evenings
There will be parents’ evenings next week in both schools. Please try and see your child’s teacher. It is very important that we have home-school face to face communication.

World Book Day
Thursday 5th of March we are celebrating World Book Day. Please dress up as a character from a traditional tale.  Whether you choose to make an outfit or buy one I am sure we will have a great experience.

Education Welfare Officer (EWO)
St Joseph’s has a new EWO, called Anthea Green, who will work across both schools. Anthea will be working with families regarding attendance and punctuality.  Please ensure your children arrive to school on time and have good attendance.  If they are ill, for example, when there is a diahorrea and vomiting bug, let common sense prevail and send them to school as soon as possible when they are better.  If you know your child is going to be absent from school please let us know in good time on the first day of absence and when they return a note is required to explain the absence.

Uniform
In ‘Outstanding’ schools uniform is worn with pride.  Generally our uniform is excellent but there have been a few occasions where children have not worn the right things.  Hair bands should be school colours, no earrings, no nail varnish, no boots, no caps, no beads.  For PE, the uniform should be white t-shirt and blue shorts, plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms and suitable footwear-plimsolls or trainers.

Coffee Morning
This Friday we have a coffee morning in the hall from 9.05 to 9.50am.  Please come
along if you can make it.

Upcoming Event in the parish - St Patrick’s Day
At Sacred Heart the St. Patrick’s Day celebration is on Saturday 14th March at 7.00pm. Tickets are priced for a family (2 adults + 2 children) £5.00, individual £2.00.  Food included in the ticket.

Reflection

I don’t remember that the Lord ever spoke of success.  He spoke only of
faithfulness in loving.  The Lord has called me to faithfulness in love and this
is the only success that really counts.
