Dear Parents and Carers

This is the fourth week back at school and everyone is getting into the routine of school life. It has been an interesting few weeks with lots going on to make the school as good as it can be. We have been ensuring that the children’s behaviour is ‘impeccable’ through high expectations and ask you to reinforce this at home. We have already had a school ‘health check’ where we have looked at the quality of work in books and over this year we will be working on ensuring our curriculum is the best it can be.

Say Hello! Say goodbye!

We have welcomed a new member of staff to the Infant School, Ms Michelle Ruane. I am sure you will give her a true St Joseph’s welcome. We say goodbye to Ms Steadman who goes on maternity leave and we wish her every happiness over the coming months.

School Office

At the moment we only have two members of staff in the office. Please be patient when you waiting especially in the morning. The office staff are working hard to make sure everyone is seen promptly and their queries answered.

Breakfast Club

We have started our breakfast club. It is running smoothly thanks to a great team of staff. The children have toast, cereal and juice and can play with their friends. Breakfast Club starts at 7.45am and the children are then escorted to the playground for 8.30am. It costs £3. WE STILL HAVE SOME PLACES AVAILABLE. Please talk to a member of the office staff if you are interested in using this facility. We will be working with a charity called Magic Breakfast and Family Action to support our breakfast club – watch this space for more news.

The children look great in their uniform but we find there is a lot of lost property. I am sure this is very annoying and expensive for you. Please make sure you name your child’s uniform. If they lose it we will know who it belongs to.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We had our Macmillan Coffee morning and raffle today. Thank you all for being so generous with your donations of cake and having such a lovely morning. We will keep you posted and let you know how much we have raised for such a good cause.

Letting us know…

Sometimes life can be very stressful for you and the children. There may be big issues with housing, immigration, health, a family situation. It is always good to let us know privately if there is something happening even if it is difficult to do so. Children don’t often know the reason but they can feel that something is not quite right and this often shows at school. It is worth having the conversation.
