Friday 28th September - The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Thursday 20th September 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, will be taking place all over the country on Friday 28th September. Here at St Joseph’s, we are planning our own event and we will be holding our coffee morning here in the school hall between 9am – 10am and everybody is welcome!

The coffee morning is Macmillan's biggest fundraising event, and they are asking people across the UK to hold coffee mornings and raise money for people living with cancer.

What's it all for?

There are now 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer. By 2020, it will be 4 million people, and we want to be there for them all.

One in three of us will get cancer, and it will be one of the toughest things we’ll ever have to face. Our goal is to make sure no one faces cancer alone.

We provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support, as well as campaigning for better cancer care. And because cancer affects more than just those facing it, we’re there for friends and family too. We are Macmillan”

In 2017, our St Joseph’s coffee morning raised the staggering amount of £842 which was fantastic!

We are asking that you, the parents, carers and staff of our school community, donate cakes for this event. They can either be homemade or bought from the shops but it would be a great opportunity to get those baking trays out and make a special cake to make our coffee morning truly memorable. Cakes would be very welcome either on the Thursday or early on the morning of the 28th September so we can set them up in the hall ready for you all to come in at 09.00. Please make sure that you write your child’s name and class on your tins so we can make sure that they get back to you.

Tickets cost £2 and are on sale in our school office which is at the main entrance to the school.

There will also be a raffle all week and this will be drawn at the coffee morning, so please bring some money for tickets.

Please support our coffee morning and buy your tickets as soon as possible.

Collection boxes will also be in the front hall for those of you who perhaps are unable to come to the coffee morning but wish to donate.

Many thanks
