Newsletter 17th May 2018

Thursday, 17th May 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week Year 6 have been doing their SATs.  Year 2 SATs are continuing over this week and next. The children have worked and continue to work extremely hard and, so far, have showed impeccable conduct during the tests.  All of the teachers and support staff are very proud of them.  Well done to every child involved!

Mary Our Mother

May is the month of Mary and our May Procession in honour of Our Lady is a very moving experience. My thanks to Father Victor for celebrating this with us, Mrs Mokogwu for organising it and parents for supporting this.

Mary, Mother of hope, accompany us on our journey! Teach us to proclaim the living God; help us to bear witness to Jesus, the one Saviour; make us kindly towards our neighbours, welcoming to the needy, concerned for justice, impassioned builders of a more just world; intercede for us as we carry out our work in history, certain that the Father’s plan will be fulfilled. Taken from Ecclesia in Europa, 125

This Sunday, the 20th May, is Pentecost Sunday and commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, the completion of redemption, the fullness of grace for the Church and the subsequent gift of faith for all nations.

Relationships and Sex Education

During the week after half term children from all classes will be learning about relationships through the school programme called ‘A Journey in Love’. Please look on the website for all details of this under the tab ‘Home’ followed by ‘Our Faith’ then ‘A Journey in Love PowerPoint Presentations’.  ‘A Journey in Love’ highlights the importance of parental input and children will be told to discuss their lessons at home. As a parent, you have the right to withdraw your child from Sex Education at any time if you wish to do so. I do however urge you to look at the presentations for your child’s year group. It is the recommended programme of study for Catholic schools for Relationship and Sex Education, and has been written as a progressive scheme of work that supports the Religious Education, PSHE and Science curricula.
